News - Witcher 2 Released!

This Tuesday, may 17, 2011., was marked by a release of The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings a long expected sequel to The Witcher, one of the best RPGs in recent years.

Those of you not familiar with the game in question, if there is anyone like that, The Witcher is an excellent rpg released in October of 2007 developed by CD Projekt RED STUDIO. Actually it had some problems, bugs and such but all that was rectified with the release of The Witcher: Enhanced Edition in September of the following year.

The Witcher brought to us a brutal world based on Slavic mythology full of oppressed elves and dwarves, courtesans, bar fights, a lot of cursing, sex content, petty nobles, magic and monsters, all coupled with a great story and characters . The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings is no different, expect more of the above plus higher production values which means better voice acting, animations, graphic et cetera. There are some differences mainly in the combat which is more action oriented and maybe suffers from a bad bug called consolitis so the fans of the first game and it's style of combat may be somewhat disappointed. However it's a great game, maybe even better than the original which runs and looks great even on a bit better than mid range configs, as mine is, so I would highly recommend getting it! If you haven't played the original game (shame on you) you can still immerse yourself in the sequel and have no problems following the story, but for the full experience I recommend playing first game also, preferably before the sequel.

Tip - When you engage in your first interactive conversation  in game choose your answers from the top! Otherwise you miss out on the intro story and an opportunity to familiarize yourself with the controls before you engage in the actual combat which is hard as it is, even on normal difficulty.
